Barbara K. Simmons

Barbara K. Simmons, 63, of Ogdensburg, died, February 23, 2013, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Calling hours will be at the funeral home, Friday, March 1, 2013, 11 AM - 1PM, funeral service to follow at 1PM, Reverend Lynn Sullivan officiating. Barbara is survived by her husband, Leaman R. Simmons, a son, Leaman R. Simmons Jr., Ogdensburg, a daughter, Terry and Charles Melton, Kissimmee, FL, stepdaughters, Vaughn M. Barkley, Ogdensburg, Dawn and James Stevenson, Massena, sisters, Jean Newell, Toronto, Canada, Paula and Roland Harmon, San Diego, CA, Ramona Summers, Ogdensburg, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was born on August 12, 1949, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Harry and Katherine McCarger Billado. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1967, and then attended TECO in Kissimmee; FL. Barbara married Leaman Simmons on June 16, 1972 in Ogdensburg. She was most recently a homemaker and before that a secretary for United Van Lines in Orlando, FL. Barbara was a member of AMVETS Post 19 in Ogdensburg. She loved to travel, going on many cruises, bowl, play scrabble, play bingo, NASCAR and fishing. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
