OGDENSBURG- Florence E. “Tinker” Schofell, 80, formerly of Pine Street, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 28, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
She was born on March 31, 1943, in Ogdensburg, NY to the late William C. & Germain (Bouchard) Barr. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy, and later on she attended Suny Canton College.
Florence was employed by the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg as a Therapy Aide. She also was very instrumental in helping open the Mental Health Unit at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
She married Jeffrey W. Schofell in September of 1999.
She is survived by her husband Jeff Schofell, Ogdensburg; her sons, Jeff Bailey and his companion Robin Sovie, Ogdensburg; Todd Charles (Donna) Bailey, and their three children of Saranac Lake, NY. Her grandchildren, Logan, Madison, & Chelsi Bailey, along with an honorary grandchild, Katie House. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on the Barr side that she loved so much.
Florence was an avid reader. She was very proud growing up in the shipyard, she enjoyed swimming and the sunsets on the St. Lawrence River, “5th Rock.” She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice, she enjoyed performing with showtime. Florence did things her way, she was always the life of the party!
Per her wishes there will be no public services.
