Joyce M. O'Brien, 90, of Ogdensburg, died on January 9, 2015 at Riverledge Health Care Facility. Calling hours will be January 14th, 2 - 4 and 7 -9 PM, the funeral service will be January 15th, 11:00 am at the Presbyterian Stone Church, Pastor David Hart, officiating. Burial will follow in Presbyterian Stone Church Cemetery. She is survived by her sons, Carl S. Murphy of Morristown, Kenneth C. and his wife Carla O'Brien of Oak Harbor, Washington, daughters, Christine Youngs of Hammond, Louise O'Brien 0f Ogdensburg, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Eileen Murphy-Zurek who died in February 2013, a grandson, Thomas Anderson, brothers, Stanley W. Mead and John W. Mead, sisters, Luella Florence Card and Carol Schlaile. Joyce was born on August 12, 1924 in Carmel, New York, the daughter of Stanley W. and Maedella Hyatt Mead. She graduated from Carmel Central School and married Clarence O'Brien in 1962, he died October 1974. She was a waitress at the Max Pearlman Diner in Carmel and cleaned homes. Joyce was a member of the Presbyterian Stone Church and the Senior Citizen Club at the church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, knitting and making quilts.
