Martha J. LaParr, 64, formally of Gouverneur, died, February 3, 2012, at her daughter's home surrounded by her family, Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, entrusted with arrangements. Calling hours will be Friday, February 10th, 4 – 7 PM, at the funeral home, the funeral service is private and Reverend Father James Shurtleff will be officiating. She will be buried in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery. Martha is survived by her daughters, Andrea LaFlair, Heuvelton, Dawn (Ernest) Turnbull, Jane (Thomas) Wiers, all of Canton, stepdaughter, Angel (Kermit) Rice, Gouverneur, brothers, Clifford (Bonnie) Butterfield, Macomb, Harry (Brenda) Butterfield, IL, Vernon (Pamela) Butterfield, TN, Ross (Vivian) Butterfield, Theresa, Tony (Theresa) Butterfield, Heuvelton, sisters, Hazel Butterfield, Canton, Verna Rose Barley, NH, Pamela Butterfield, Ogdensburg, grandchildren, Chelsie LaFlair, Tiffany Cochrane, Austin Holcomb, Ernest Turnbull III, Dustin, Clifton and Shayne Turnbull, Jonathan, Shaughn and Cory Wiers, step-grandchildren, Michelle and Patrick Rice, a great grandson, Braden Brown, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Terrance J. LaFlair Jr., a sister, Iva Measheaw and a brother, John Butterfield. Martha was born February 24, 1947 in Canton, the daughter of Arthur Frederick and Grace Finley Butterfield. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and worked as a certified nurse's assistant, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Ogdensburg. Martha married Terrance Joseph LaFlair in 1967, he died in 1969, and she then married Lawrence LaParr that marriage ended in divorce. She loved to spend time with her family, reading (Ann Rule books), gardening, bowling, traveling, and doing crafts, she was very creative.
