OGDENSBURG-Sherman M. Deloney, 81, of Lisbon, died early Saturday morning, December 2, 2023, at his home in Lisbon following a long illness. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. at the LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home, with a celebration of life immediately to follow at the Knights of Columbus in Ogdensburg.

Sherman M. Deloney was born in Ogdensburg, NY on September 29, 1942. He was the son of the late William and Doris (Gonyou) Deloney. He attended OFA and earned his G.E.D. from SUNY Canton. He served in the United States National Guard and the United States Army Reserves for 8 years. Sherman worked as a Therapy Aide for the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center for 30 years until his retirement in 1991. Sherman was married to Nancy Warren, their marriage ended in divorce. He married Cynthia Shannon in 1973. Sadly, Cynthia passed away in October of 1982. He began dating his current wife in November 1982. On August 4th, 1990 he would find love again, marrying Lenette “Letti” Ferguson at the family camp on the St. Lawrence River.
He enjoyed four-wheeling, woodworking, playing golf, hunting, fishing, being on the river in his “Go-Fast Boat”, playing Pool and Poker, traveling, camping, NASCAR, and going to Florida. He loved his dogs, and over the years he had many special ones, always named “Dutchess” and “Spike”, most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends, sharing stories with his friends at Donut King, and telling jokes. He was a frequent visitor to the Emergency Department to have many self inflicted wounds repaired. He was a jack of all trades but accident prone.
He is survived by his wife, Lenette “Letti” Deloney, his children; Sherry Deloney and her partner Ricky Middlemiss of Richmond Hill, GA, Shauna Geary and her partner Nicole Martinez of Chesapeake, VA, Tessa Latham and her husband Wayne of Ogdensburg, Paul Deloney and his wife Amy of Ogdensburg, John Deloney and his wife Juanita of Star Lake and Nadine Deloney of Heuvelton. He is survived by his daughter-in-law JoAnn Deloney of Ogdensburg, twenty-three grandchildren, and twenty-five great-grandchildren also survive him, with special mention to his grandson and granddaughter, Harley Hill and his wife Rachel of Lisbon and Sierra Dobbs and her partner Reilly Dunham of Ogdensburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends.
Sherman was predeceased by his son, Jerry Deloney in 2020, his siblings; Shirley Piercey and Leonard and Freeman Deloney and two very special friends Mel Brossoit and Billy Norman.
